In addition to this current role with Korn/Ferry, Mr. Whipple is a director, chair of the nominating committee, and member of the audit committee of the J.P. Morgan Chase mutual funds. Mr. Whipple also serves on the advisory board of Miller Buckfire.
Mr. Whipple is the chairman and was the chief executive officer of CMS Energy Corporation from May 2002 through September 2004. He has been a director at CMS Energy Corporation since 1993.
Mr. Whipple served as executive vice president of Ford Motor Company from 1988 to 1999. Previously, he served as chairman and chief executive officer of Ford Motor Credit Company from 1997 to 1999, and as chairman and chief executive officer of Ford of Europe, Inc. from 1986 to 1988.
In addition, Mr. Whipple is very active in his community. He has been a United Way leader and board member for many years, setting a record as Torch Drive chair, and serving as chairman of the board. He is a member and past chairman of the board of Detroit Public Television and Oakland Family Services, as well as the chairman of the board of trustees of Detroit Country Day School.
Mr. Whipple received the 1998 Alois Alzheimer Award, the 1999 Max Fisher Community Service Award, the 2001 Heart of Gold Award, the 2005 Tocqueville Award, and the 2006 Cor Vitae Award from the American Heart Association.
Mr. Whipple was on the Dean’s List at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and engineering. He is a graduate of the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. Mr. Whipple is also an avid cyclist and pedals several thousand miles a year.
