John Martinez

Senior Principal, Executive Pay & Governance

Mr. Martinez is a Senior Principal in Korn Ferry's Executive Pay & Governance Practice based in our Princeton office.

Mr. Martinez supports Compensation Committees in carrying out their oversight responsibilities related to executive pay programs.

He also partners with executive leadership in designing effective incentive compensation programs that support the achievement of the strategic and financial objectives of the organization.

Mr. Martinez works with companies to develop and implement effective disclosure and shareholder engagement plans to address potential shareholder concerns around compensation and governance matters.

Mr. Martinez has a broad range of experience in-and-around executive compensation and board governance.

Prior to joining Korn Ferry, Mr. Martinez led the executive compensation and long-term incentive plan administration functions for both Prudential Financial and NRG Energy.

He was previously an Executive Compensation consultant with Farient Advisors and a subject matter expert in proxy voting and corporate governance with The Capital Group Companies. He also served as an institutional investor liaison with proxy solicitor D.F. King, focused on contested elections and M&A.

Mr. Martinez received his Master of Business Administration from The Anderson School of Management at UCLA with a focus on Corporate Finance and his Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Sacramento.
