Mr. Nicholson began his career working as a field engineer in the North Sea, West Africa, Gulf of Mexico and Canada with Geoservices, leaving the business after the acquisition of the company by Schlumberger. Further to this he spent two years in London operating in senior technical search, primarily in the international upstream markets with a global recruitment firm.
Mr. Nicholson joined Korn Ferry's Energy practice in January 2012.
Mr. Nicholson operates across the energy value chain covering Europe, Africa and the Middle East. His primary function is originating business, managing clients and delivering searches from end to end.
He has worked extensively with private equity funds who are investing in the sector, helping to find leaders for portfolio companies at board and executive level. He has published a white paper on the topic of ‘Successful Leadership in a Private Equity Environment'.
Mr. Nicholson has developed a strong track record working with national oil companies who are embarking on major change programs.
He is currently heavily involved in the utility sector working to help clients address the leadership challenge that is arising as this industry rapidly evolves away from centralized generation towards renewables and digitization.
Mr. Nicholson has a bachelor's degree from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
