Korn Ferry and Harris Corp. Continue to Offer In-Depth Leadership Development Opportunity for Veterans Transitioning into Civilian Careers

Applications Being Taken for 10th Cohort of Leveraging Military Leadership Program

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 6, 2017 – The Leveraging Military Leadership Program (LMLP), which guides U.S. military Veterans in professional transition efforts, is now accepting applications for the next program presented by Korn Ferry (NYSE:KFY), and Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS).The program is accepting applications through March 2, 2017 for the program’s 10th cohort. The program is composed of both on-line instruction and a three-day resident session, which is scheduled from April 21-23, 2017, in the Washington, D.C. area.

LMLP is designed to create successful transitions from military to civilian careers, and to date, nearly 500 service members from all branches of the military have participated. The free program is open to Veterans of any rank who left the service in the last two years and service members who will transition in the next 12 months. National Guard and Reserve members who have served on an active duty tour in the past two years are also eligible to apply.

Participants will be guided by Korn Ferry and Harris global leadership experts, who will lead Veterans through a three-month program composed of on-line, remote, and in-person assessments, coaching, instruction, group exercises and lectures. Veterans will receive the same research-based leadership development services offered by Korn Ferry to boards, CEOs and senior executives at leading global organizations.

Veterans engage in topics such as defining a career vision, mapping out a targeted post-military career strategy, and creating an action plan that includes networking, using social media and refining their engagement and interviewing techniques.
“At Harris, we have seen firsthand how military service can translate to business excellence, and LMLP training elevates those attributes,” said Bob Duffy, Harris senior vice president of Human Resources and Administration. “We look forward to working with this new group of program participants and many more to come in future cohorts.”

“Veterans bring highly sought-after competencies to every industry and profession, such as driving results, leveraging diversity of thought for better decision making, and dealing with ambiguity,” said Randy Manner, retired Army Major General and Korn Ferry senior partner. “The Leveraging Military Leadership Program helps Veterans be happier and more successful in their first post-military career opportunity by increasing their self-awareness and ability to clearly articulate their unique value proposition to potential employers.”

The program has also garnered tremendous support from participants:

“The Leveraging Military Leadership Program is unique in that it increased my self-awareness, gave me more confidence and most of all helped me formulate an effective transition strategy,” said Christopher Cizek, a retired Navy Commander with 22 years of service. “This resulted in landing the exact job in Federal financial management I was interested in and the perspectives I gained continue to help me succeed in my new career.”

“LMLP is a world class leadership and military transition program. Despite attending every TAP (Transition Assistance Program) session provided as I transitioned from the U.S. Army, I was not fully prepared for civilian life,” said Seth Keil, Staff Sergeant, Army with 10 years of service.
“I came to LMLP disenfranchised, one of the many veterans who had almost given up on finding my dream job. The rigorous classroom learning was facilitated by world-class faculty and executive coaches. Each session provided valuable insights on such things as core values, purpose, personal brand, and value proposition. I left reinvigorated, with a targeted plan to find not just A job; but, THE job. Within 4 months of leaving the program, I accepted employment with my current organization.”

“An extremely insightful, innovative and pragmatic course, LMLP was both professionally challenging and personally enriching. It stretched my perspectives, armed me with invaluable tools and enabled me to hone my transition focus,” said Kelly McKeague, a retired Major General in the Air Force with 34 years of service. “Two tangible outcomes were my ability to better tap into non-traditional networks and to articulate a more resonating ‘story.’”
