Gary Schmidt is a Senior Client Partner at Korn Ferry Hay Group, based in the firm’s Singapore office.

Mr. Schmidt takes a pragmatic and business-oriented approach, applying best practices in work psychology in a flexible and bespoke manner to create tangible value for clients. Success is measured through impact on the business. He is driven by a competitive desire to help clients identify, develop and engage top talent to lead regional and global corporations now and in the future.

He has worked as a country and regional GM involved in green field start-ups and business turnarounds. He has also been a global leadership team member driving consulting and product innovation.

Mr. Schmidt has 30 years of experience as a consultant, business leader and researcher. He has worked for various firms including YSC, Right Management, Saville Consulting and SHL. He also worked at Novartis Pharmaceuticals as Executive Director for Global Talent Management.

His expertise includes executive assessment, leadership development, assessment center design, employee engagement, succession planning and strategic talent management. He has worked across industries and functions including pharmaceuticals, financial services, technology, sales, transportation, hospitality, FMCG and specialty chemicals.

Mr. Schmidt is a member of the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychologists, the Society for Psychologists in Management, and the American Psychological Association. 

Mr. Schmidt earned a doctorate in industrial & organizational psychology from Tulane University, a MBA (with honors) from the Stern Business School executive program at New York University and an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Iowa. A native English speaker from the US, he has resided in Singapore for five years working primarily with MNCs across the APAC region and globally.
