John Hambley

Principal, Aerospace & Defense Practice

John Hambley is a Principal in the Northern Virginia office for Korn Ferry’s Aerospace and Defense Practice.

Prior to joining Korn Ferry, John worked for another executive search firm where he specialized in defense, cybersecurity, and industrial markets.

Before entering executive search, John worked for Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington DC, where he supported numerous national security projects for a variety of government agencies. He supported the U.S. Department of Defense, conducting comprehensive in-country assessments of partner nations’ security forces in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Cambodia.

John also supported the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. During this time, he became an expert on international sanctions and counter illicit-finance in the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe.

John has more than 12 years of experience in executive search, management consulting, and the U.S. military. He has led numerous C-Suite and functional leadership searches with a variety of Fortune 500 organizations in addition to small start-up companies in the commercial and government markets.

John began his career as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. From 2007 to 2010, John served as a Scout Sniper Platoon Commander with the 2nd Marine Division, where he led Marines on two deployments in the Middle East and in Haiti.

John earned his master’s degree from Harvard University and his bachelor’s degree from Bard College.
