Kai Sin Tan is a principal for Korn Ferry Hay Group, based in the firm’s Dubai office.

Mr. Sin Tan was involved in a major merger and acquisition project in the oil & gas industry, leading activities to harmonize conflict resolution across eight independent companies, defining common grading, reward elements, and HR operating model and structure.

Mr. Sin Tan supports companies in ensuring organizations have a proper career progression and role clarity coupled with an effective compensation strategy to motivate employees in achieving the company’s goals.

Mr. Sin Tan led a project and resolved a potential lawsuit against a client by a union and the retirees over an alleged misguided retirement gratuity scheme; he successfully resolved the issues with very satisfied employees and retirees.

Mr. Sin Tan’s main expertise lies in work measurement and rewards. His primary focus is on driving organizational alignment to improve effectiveness of his clients’ organization and people. He has also worked with clients in addressing the supply of capability and capacity in their organization to drive talent management for a sustainable growth.

Mr. Sin Tan has helped clients in the energy sector which includes oil & gas, petrochemical and utilities industries, and also in higher education. He also has a deep background in scientific research methodologies with strong analytical skills.

Mr. Sin Tan holds a bachelor’s of engineering in materials science from Imperial College London and a doctorate of philosophy from the University of Cambridge.

Prior to joining Hay Group, Mr. Sin Tan worked for several research institutes in South Korea and Malaysia, where he was actively involved in many strategy research planning.
