Malcolm Pannell has responsibility for the operations of Korn Ferry SA in sub Saharan Africa. His consulting expertise lies in working with executive teams, focusing on organisational effectiveness, executive and general reward strategies and leadership development programmes. He oversees the Executive Remuneration and OD (organizational Development) practice, which focuses on helping organisations execute strategies effectively by translating business strategies into operating models, and then aligning HR processes to the business objectives.

At Korn Ferry, Mr. Pannell has delivered a variety of successful business solutions to clients in financial services, government, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, manufacturing and telecommunications, including ABI, Coca Cola Sabco, First Rand Group, Flour Mills Nigeria, Kenya Airways, Nedbank, Pfizer, Pioneer, SAA, SAB, SARS, Sasol, Standard Bank, Telkom and the FIC. His broad based experience spans a number of geographies, including the USA and Japan, and he integrates this with the capabilities of Korn Ferry to deliver insights to executives that enable them to make better use of the resources at their command.

He has worked as an advisor to executives in the private sector and has a reputation amongst his clients for challenging the status quo, innovative and broad based approaches to problems and a focus on delivering business results.

Mr. Pannell spent a number of years in the construction, automotive and information technology sectors, first as an engineer and subsequently in marketing and sales. During his career he has worked across many African countries. This experience allows him to develop relationships of shared understanding and trust with his clients. The translation of business strategies into practical programmes which increase organisational effectiveness is a particular passion for Malcolm and he has implemented these programmes with a number of his clients.

After completing a BSc (Civil Engineering) at the University of Cape Town and a GDE at the University of Witwatersrand, Mr. Pannell registered as a Professional Engineer and worked in the construction industry. He then spent five years with Korn Ferry in the early 1980s, followed by a fifteen-year period in various marketing and sales management positions with Nissan, EDS and MGX, before returning to Korn Ferry in 2006.

Mr. Pannell takes an active interest in the HR field, is a regular speaker at professional conferences.
