Wolfgang Schmidt-Soelch

Wolfgang Schmidt-Soelch is a Senior Client Partner for Korn Ferry's Zurich office and a member of the Firm's Global Financial Services Practice.

With decades of international experience in various sectors of the financial services industry and deep experience in recruiting senior officers, Wolfgang brings a wealth of knowledge to Korn Ferry. Past engagements in banking, insurance and asset/wealth management have ranged from global in scale to Pan-European and local. They included board positions, chief executive officers, senior general management, chief financial officers, chief operating officers, chief risk officers, legal and compliance officers, chief actuaries, distribution executives, product development and investment officers, human resources directors and information technology officers.

Prior to his current position, Wolfgang served as senior partner at another international executive search firm.
During his tenure there, he ran the European Financial Services Practice, European Insurance Practice and European Corporate and Retail Banking Practice. Earlier Wolfgang was responsible for Winterthur Group's operations in Asia, The Netherlands and North America.

Prior to that he was the chief financial officer and head of the corporate center of Winterthur International, the large corporate and specialty segment of Winterthur. He also worked for Credit Suisse, where he was the head of corporate development including the in house mergers and acquisitions function. Wolfgang also gained experience in investment banking and finance through various roles with Arthur Andersen and Salomon Brothers in Frankfurt and London.

In addition to serving on executive boards of both Winterthur Group and Credit Suisse, Wolfgang has been a member of boards throughout Europe, Asia and North America. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the Advisory Board of the Swiss Institute for Executive and Non-Executive Directors.

Wolfgang holds a diploma in economics from the University of Cologne. He is fluent in German and English.
