The End of Dead-End Jobs

The New York Times reviews new career guiding books, including Korn Ferry CEO Gary Burnison's Lose the Resume, Land the Job.

It’s something that many people go through: feeling trapped in an energy-sapping job that’s going nowhere. Indeed, surveys continue to show varying problems with employee motivation at all levels, despite a strong job market.

The New York Times recently reviewed several new books, including Lose the Resume, Land the Job by Korn Ferry CEO Gary Burnison, that aim to help people either extricate themselves from dead-end jobs or avoid them in the first place. Burnison's book, the Times reviewer notes, doesn’t coddle job-seekers into thinking that landing the dream job is easy, but is “more about scaring us straight.” Lose the Resume “breaks down every aspect of job hunting, explaining what matters and what doesn’t.”
