Statistical evidence clearly shows that a more balanced representation of women in top leadership positions produces better financial results. Yet women remain an underutilised source of innovation, performance and leadership in organisations – and there’s a lack of collective understanding of what it takes for organisations to maximise the potential of female leaders and talent. So, what is getting in the way of women being more equally represented at all levels of leadership in companies?
Korn Ferry partnered with the Rockefeller Foundation to study the success traits of women who have been CEOs at Fortune 1000-listed companies. What became immediately clear was that when companies have both gender diversity and leaders with the skills to incorporate differences, increases in performance and innovation follow.
We leveraged this proprietary research to create Advancing Women Exponentially (AWE), a research based, end-to-end solution to gender inequity in leadership. We help organisations define and follow the necessary steps to maintain a proven pipeline of female leadership candidates. We aid in early identification and acceleration of high-potential female talent, and we help organisations communicate opportunities in terms that engage and encourage women’s strengths. Mentorship programmes also play an indispensable role, encouraging more women to become CEOs and, in turn, actively advance other women’s careers. By seeking answers, actively supporting qualified female professionals, and providing overdue solutions to an outdated status quo, we are creating a cycle of leadership success that benefits individuals and organisations alike.
