Sarah Oliva is a Principal in the Board Effectiveness Practice as well as the CEO Succession Practice, based in Charlotte, NC.

Ms. Oliva works across industries advising a broad spectrum of companies on board performance and CEO/executive succession planning needs, including: 

  • Board assessment and effectiveness
  • Board composition and succession planning
  • Corporate governance and ESG more broadly
  • Board matters in special situations (including pre- IPO/SPAC, board mergers, shareholder activism)
  • CEO/executive succession planning (including executive assessment and development planning) 

Ms. Oliva’s prior experience includes four years in the Board & CEO Advisory Practice at Russell Reynolds Associates.

Prior to joining Russell Reynolds, Ms. Oliva worked in management consulting at Promontory Financial Group, a strategy, risk management, and financial regulation compliance consulting firm.   

At Promontory she focused on helping large banks and financial institutions understand and implement the heightened supervisory requirements resulting from the 2008 financial crisis, including the U.S. Dodd-Frank Act. Ms. Oliva helped many of these organizations address their greatest regulatory and reputational challenges, including implementing substantial changes to board governance, performance, and culture.

Ms. Oliva holds a BA in political science from Williams College and an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business.
