Co-Lead, Global Sports and Head of Sports Research and Analytics

Garrick is a founding member of Korn Ferry’s Global Sports Practice and also serves as the practice’s Head of Sports Research and Analytics.

Playing on a lifelong passion for sports, Garrick is deeply focused on the global holistic landscape of the industry, particularly with the growing intersection of sports with technology, media, and data. Of particular interest has been in the explosive growth of digital and entertainment assets; Garrick has been a key partner both in helping clients actualize their sport investment opportunities but also how to best optimize their assets within gaming, live entertainment, esports, media, and blockchain technology.

At Korn Ferry, Garrick has played a key role placing Commissioners atop five of the U.S.’s largest sports organizations, several top globally-focused CEOs and Presidents, and other C-Suite executives across the sports and sports consumer industries.

On the sports operations side, Garrick has built out the advanced analytical platforms that have led to the placement of multiple head coaches and general mangers for teams in the NFL, the NBA, MLB, and NHL as well as numerous placements across intercollegiate athletics.  His work in this function has led to several dramatic, on-the-field turnarounds including five championship teams, the most recent being the 2019 NBA Champion, Toronto Raptors and 2020 / 2021 / 2023 Super Bowl winners with Kansas City and Tampa Bay.

In addition to talent recruitment, Garrick has helped multiple sports organizations on a consultative level, helping align them on such issues as strategic planning, organizational structure, rewards and benefits, talent assessment, and diversity and inclusion.  He has also been a leader in promoting the firm’s (and his own personal) commitment against social and corporate systemic racism.

Prior to Korn Ferry, Garrick had a brief stint working at a private family investment firm and then at another executive search firm before transitioning to Korn Ferry to help co-build the firm’s nascent sports practice.  Preceding his entry into the business space, Garrick spent a number of years working in neuropsychology and neurobiology research.

Garrick graduated with honors from New York University and completed a postgraduate degree in behavioral neuroscience at his alma mater.  He speaks Cantonese fluently as well as conversational Spanish.
