With almost a decade of experience in recruitment, executive search and leadership consulting, Mr Sweetman has supported clients with a broad cross-section of talent needs. He has placed leaders at the C-suite, Board of Directors, and executive levels, as well as leaders with specialist expertise across all corporate functions. He has also supported clients through executive assessment for development programs and succession planning.

Mr Sweetman partners with companies in the global agriculture, energy, forestry and mining industries. He also has significant expertise in the cleantech sector, specifically where natural resources industries need innovation to meet the requirements of the broader ESG agenda. This includes growing industries that are enabling the global energy and food system transitions such as agtech and foodtech, biomass and biofuels, biochemicals and biomaterials, precision forestry, and carbon markets. He also supports the private equity firms that invest in these companies.

Mr Sweetman started his professional career in the British Army before immigrating to Canada in 2012. He joined a specialist recruitment agency and then a global contingent workforce and project management consultancy before starting his executive search career at a boutique firm. Prior to Korn Ferry, James worked at another global executive search and leadership advisory firm.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of York and serves as a Patron of the Honourable Guard for The Calgary Military Museums Foundation.
