Alexander Chmel brings more than 15 years of experience working with boards of directors and as a board member of top Russian public companies. 

During his career Alexander has worked in senior management roles at one of the Big Four firms on projects in Russia and in Central and Eastern Europe. He has also served as a chairman and member of audit committees at a number of top Russian public companies. Since January 2019 Alexander has been an independent director and a member of three committees of the Board of Directors of En+ Group.

As an adjunct professor at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, Alexander lectures on corporate governance in private and public companies.

He has extensive expertise in corporate governance, board efficiency and assessment, strategy development and implementation, IPOs and transformation from owner-managed to board-governed cultures.

Alexander received a Master’s Degree in Economics from the Leningrad Trade and Economics Institute and in Optimal Decision-making from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. He has a Ph.D. in Economics. Alexander also completed an executive program in general management at the London Business School. He holds a Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors (UK). In 2016, 2019 and 2020 Alexander was named one of the top 50 independent directors in Russia at the Russian Director of the Year awards.
