Senior Principal

Terhi Mäkelä is a Senior Principal for Korn Ferry based in Helsinki office. She joined the firm in early 2021 and has work experience for +20 years in management consulting. 

Terhi has deep expertise in helping clients to realize business benefits through transformations. She has designed, led and delivered successfully large business and culture transformation programs for both international and domestic companies, from several industries, public sector as well as non-profit organizations.

She is a strong facilitator of change and able to support client teams working effectively together both virtually and face-to-face. 

She feels passionate about driving business and culture transformations for the benefit of people and organizations; and strengthening diversity, equity and inclusion to further improve business performance and workforce wellbeing.

In her program roles Terhi Mäkelä has built strong skills in leadership development, feedback culture, coaching, change capability building, employee engagement, stakeholder engagement, inspiring communications and the DE&I agenda.

She has worked with organizations to enable leadership success via identifying needed capabilities and developing leaders across levels.

Ms. Mäkelä has also delivered a variety of senior level assessments and development interventions.

Ms. Mäkelä’s areas of expertise include strategy implementations, leadership assessment and development, designing and implementing performance management, kicking off new organizational units and implementing M&A operations. She has deep experience in using Design Thinking methods when facilitating co-creating sessions, change planning workshops or leadership development programs.

Ms. Mäkelä holds a master of science from University of Helsinki, where she studied social sciences, work psychology and communications. She is fluent in English and Finnish.

Prior to joining Korn Ferry she worked at Accenture for +20 years. Ms. Mäkelä has certifications in the following fields: strengths-based coaching, change analytics, leadership styles and organization climate, Korn Ferry leadership assessments, Conscious Inclusion and Managing Inclusion learning delivery (DE&I agenda).
